BIRDS EYE VIEW

  • Birdman’s Versatile Vision for Cannabis and Hemp in Vermont

We’re in a world here in Vermont where you have passionate people trying to be homesteaders – raising their own hogs, chickens, or raising a crop to bring some money in so they can do all the other things they want to do, including making cannabis, hemp and CBD products.

Birdman is a partner for these passionate people – for genetics, extraction, knowledge. The bottom line? If a Vermonter grew 4 pounds of CBD rich flowers, they would never have to buy a CBD product for several years. Vermonters can make their own topicals, salves – they can do it all – especially if we can get the oil extraction in a viscosity Vermont can work with and its versatile. In my mind, that’s the beauty of an extraction system from a producer’s standpoint – someone who is doing a value-added product, and someone who is doing varietals, from a sativa to an indica dominant cross-bred and hybridized, let’s say, with a Maine honest herb. The goal is to do a great job bringing out all the main characteristics of that varietal that tend to open up the senses – the terpene profile and how that smell shapes our relationship with the plant, like when you crack into an orange or a mango. That smell is really the foundation of how all your other senses work.

A small state like Vermont, using the history of craft production, can do cannabis right. I envision we in Vermont building a small-scale cannabis industry because we want to do it, because we believe in it. What Birdman is proposing, on this small scale, will actually be done years down the line. We probably have close to ten years, meanwhile, of this industry being in “fast forward” – aggressive and explosive expansion. While this happens, Birdman will carry on, not growing for growth’s sake, but producing at our best in a steady and organic way. If Birdman builds this cannabis and CBD business to have a ceiling, and then Birdman can replicate the business with another person who has the passion and the soul – we can recreate, over the third generation and the fourth generation, Vermonters who will continue the craft. I’d rather put money on this potentiality rather then, say, stick my money in a money market and avert my eyes and not know what is really going on.

  • The Mission of Birdman – Small Scale “Soil To Oil”

Birdman as a company is layered, built on a small scale, vertically integrated approach – soil to oil. With Birdman, there’s no middle man, there’s no mystery, there’s no secret ingredient coming from China, there’s no weird FDA law that allow label manipulation to happen, and actually encourage it to happen. It’s all pure person-person custom care, craft small batch treatment.

In my mind, here are the important things people should be thinking about every day? Food, what you are putting into your body, the people you are around, the interactions among people and food, and the process by which we get there. This is the basis of every company I’ve ever run or been a part of, including the restaurant business. A person who graduated with a business degree may look at this small-scale approach as a complete failure, but others realize that this approach was the beginning of “farm to table,” starting a few decades ago in big cities like Manhattan and then emerging in places like Vermont.

In all my food-related work, I see myself as a professional who takes a product that is produced at the highest level with as much love as possible, and brings it to the plate. Keep it simple, and use the knowledge and techniques picked up from mentors and through my own experience. In my mind, this is Birdman’s been backbone for cannabis the plant, a plant that I’ve worked with on the black market illegally for many years. I’ve walked that razor’s edge, for the right reasons. Corporate commercialization of the cannabis plant may disrupt the true nature of the plant and what the true purposes of cannabis are. We’ll have to go through this time of trickery in which commercialization creates a toxic environment for cannabis and hemp.

  • Welcome to Birdman – Cannabis Sapientiae

Sapientiae; Sapientia
Latin • Noun • definition:wisedom; understanding; reason; use of knowledge wisely; “As in, you need wisdom, you need to know your shit to filter out the crap in the world of cannabis and CBD.”

The Latin word sapientiae, meaning “wisdom,” emerged from a brainstorming session with my father and his business partner, when the three of us were trying to capture the essence of the work I am doing with cannabis, hemp, and CBD. I find the word sapientiae interactive. It breaks the ice with Birdman Vermont, nudging a potential cannabis or CBD user to think about cannabis and CBD organizations from a different perspective. The world of cannabis and CBD has exploded on the Internet with an overwhelming amount of information from questionable sources. My goal is to cut through the clutter, speak the truth and eliminate the BS. My committment is to give you the wisdom to makes intelligent decisions for your specific needs.
